Keeping the Faith Alive in Elder Care Communities

Professional Care Settings Respecting the Faith
Simply because we need a higher level of support through professional care, does not mean our Faith has Vanished.
Having a non-denominational bible study, a hymns music session, and a lack luster service on Sunday is rarely enough. We need more, even in the depths of dementia, we crave the depths of our faith. The Eucharist, the Sacraments, and the beauty of our faith traditions should remain present until our last breath.
For those working in professional care settings it can be confusing, we may not be of the same faith, and we may fall into the trap of believing it is no l longer important because one is “old” or “can’t/won’t remember.” These are excuses and not reality. Let us help you find ways to honor the faith of a resident or client living with dementia.
