For the Parish
Understanding Dementia
How do we build a community of faith that supports those living with dementia and their care partners? From the logistics of our buildings and sharing information, to ministry support, exploring what we can do in small yet impactful ways.
How can we as clergy, religious, care professionals, community members, and family, bring the hem of Christ to our loved ones living with dementia in creative and tangible ways when they are sitting in the pews, homebound, or living at a local care community?

Keynote
Wealthy in Faith
We seek a cure. We seek healing. We seek the light of Christ.
We cannot cure anyone of dementia, however, we can help each other continue to draw closer to the Lord, providing healing of the distress, fear, and isolation that dementia invites into our lives.
How do we become wealthy in faith? What does it mean? Why it is important to support faith formation even when the memory and body are fading?

Keynote
Meeting Christ Through Dementia
How can our relationship with Christ help us on your care partner journey? How we see Him, and our understanding of how He sees us guides us as we accompany other.
From volunteer to family care partner to dementia care professional, Kate share’s how her faith guided her dementia journey, and how you can learn from the lessons, suffering, and trials of her personal journey.

FOUNDER & Executive Director
Kate Fassbender
Creative work in Eldercare is what I believe I was uniquely created to do with my time and talent. I am part artist, part educator, and I find joy in accompanying others along this dementia journey.
I continue to dedicate my life to accompanying those living with dementia. I believe dementia is not a death sentence, a reason to squash dignity, purpose, and joy, nor an eraser that eliminates the beauty of your life. But it is also not a reason to fear suffering, and “shush” conversations about the real trials of dementia. Whether you have the diagnosis yourself or are a care partner, I seek to walk with you through the trials and triumphs of this life.
